Hi, your question re Mozart's letters. Yes I've read some of Mozart's letters. They seemed to me to be letters from a creative person who was also a bit rude and sometimes indulged in toilet humour of the earthiest kind.

I don't think Mozart's nuttiness is an issue though. At this distance in time its hard to say either way. Also we may just happen to have Mozart's nutty letter batch, there may be many others that are entirely sane, straight. Letters to his relatives will tend to be much franker than letters to his patrons.

What you are really saying is not: was Mozart a nutter? But am I Desmond a nutter?

I think the first is a non-question, the second is one you hardly have to ask unless you really are a nutter. If so, go to the docs and ask for the extra-special mallet treatment. The doc will hand you a mallet which you smash into your forehead. You then swallow his prescription of 150 aspirins.

That's the treatment for depression. Easy!
